Bern's Steakhouse- located in Tampa, best food and atmosphere around!

Mr. Chen's Hunan Palace in Delray Beach, FL next to the Delray Medical Center--wonderful Chinese food with a nice atmosphere and a beautiful seawater aquarium in the middle of the restaurant.  Food is delicious and the service is good.

The Old Heidelberg - great German food in a kitschy Bavarian setting with live accordion most nights.

The Rustic Inn - Best Crabs in Florida!!!

Caspian Persian Grill  Just down the road from NSU (Sunrise off University) -- the food is fabulous, especially the veggie cuisine.

Gabose  Korean and Japanese food.

Roadhouse Grill  Never disappointed with the food here. Home Depot shopping center, 1900 S. University Drive.

Headed to downtown Fort Lauderdale? A couple of ideas:

Hungry in August and September? Don't forget about Miami Spice.  Your chance to eat at $$$$ restaurants for a fraction of the price.  Many of the participating restaurants will offer either a pre-fix 3-4 course lunch or dinner menu for about 29.99 excluding tax tip and drinks.  You eat your way through Mi-Hami!

My favorite beach restaurant.  Great seafood soup.

Cuban

My wife and I both love this little family Cuban place

Don Carlin Restaurant

11447 W Oakland Park Blvd

Sunrise, FL 33323

  • My wife sings the praises, in delightful surprise, of how a little place in Broward makes better Cuban food than anywhere she's been in Miami-Dade*.  True praise from a Cuban American born and raised in MIami-Dade *(except for the cocina de Mama)
  • If you go, try anything - We've tasted almost the entire menu - but Don't miss the Tostones and the MediaNoche

Ethnic Diversity

One of the fun things about South Florida is you can eat out in a different country every night --

my husband and I love Indian -- our fav is Royal India

3801 Griffin Rd.

Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312

(954) 964-0071

In our area of Hollywood there are more and more falafal joints -- all staffed by Israelis. My Hebrew is shaky to say the least but they get the idea. Two falafal on pita with the works!

For Cuban in Broward we head to Padrinos -- there is one by NSU up University in the Fountains but we go to the original in Hallandale.

I have been eying a Jamaican place on 441 but still haven't made it in.

Mama Fu's, in Hollywood on Hollywood Blvd just W of 95--across from the Hollywood Police Station

Fast pan-Asian--pretty inexpensive, too, and if you get a punch card every 9th (or 10th?) entree is free.
